As you might know, America voted yesterday to elect their new president. The past 18 months have been very disturbing, fascinating, and scary for me. Today is the first time that I actually voice my opinion in regards to this election. I always try not to get involved in debates about politics but what I’ve seen on social media today made me sad. I feel I need to speak up.
I have to be honest with you, I am not a fan of Trump. At all. But that is not the point of this post. I usually surround myself with people who are happy, positive minded, and kind. But when I scrolled down my newsfeed this morning I saw an overwhelming amount of negativity, fear, and even hate. What happened??
I understand that some of us are not happy with the outcome of this election but at this point we have to accept what is. We can’t change it. What we can change though, is how we treat each other, how we interact with each other, and how we create our lives.
We as the people of this country are responsible to show respect towards each other, to love each other, and to work with each other to keep this country a great place to live in.
We have to realize that we are in control, that we have power! It doesn’t matter who’s the leader of this country, if it’s Hillary or Donald, Democrats or Republicans. We are all part of the human race and as such we should work together to improve our lives, our economy, and our environment. The only way this is possible is to communicate with each other, try to understand each other, and not let fear, hate, and anger get the best of us.
Always remember: No matter who you voted for, I still love you! You are awesome, you are beautiful, and you are loved!
